Donald Trump Dubbed ‘Commander in Sleep’ After Seeming to Doze Off During Cabinet Meeting

Posted on January 6, 2026

Donald Trump has earned a new nickname after appearing to doze off during a recent Cabinet meeting. The 79-year-old seemed to nod off as he encouraged his Cabinet members to discuss their accomplishments. The two-hour, 17-minute meeting covered topics like drug trafficking, his health concerns, and a rant against Somali migrants. Social media users quickly dubbed him ‘Commander in Sleep’ and ‘Dozy Don’ due to his drooping eyes and apparent fatigue.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump, stating he was attentive and running the meeting. This is the third recent incident where Trump was accused of sleeping during meetings. Earlier, he criticized journalists for questioning his health, claiming he is “sharper than 25 years ago,” despite ongoing scrutiny.

In recent weeks, Trump’s health has been questioned, with calls for MRI results. The White House announced results were normal, but Trump insisted he’s fine. During the meeting, he appeared visibly tired, closing his eyes while others spoke. Leavitt highlighted Trump’s fiery final answers, including attacks on Somali migrants, and dismissed concerns about his sleep as political distraction.

As the meeting progressed, Trump struggled to stay alert but remained outspoken, criticizing figures like Ilhan Omar and advocating for stricter immigration policies. Despite the fatigue, he continued to push his agenda, emphasizing achievements and his “Make America Great Again” slogan.
